Funeral service for Mr. Ulysses Putts, Sr. who passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, 8119
W. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Tampa, Florida with the Pastor Eugene Garnett, officiating.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Ulysses Putts, Jr. and Abraham Putts; granddaughter, Sanaa
Foster; siblings, Lucille (Sally) Williams, Leola Lula, Panilla (Doll Baby) Spence and son-in-law, Donald
Mr. Putts leaves to cherish memories of him with his children, Marilynn Walton, Linda Haynes,
Johnnie Ray Putts, Lisa Thomas (Greg); siblings, Katherine Sams, Lucreatha Stubbs (Johnny), Rev.
Columbus Burns (Zelene), Melvin Burns, Alonzo Burns; grandchildren, Donisha Putts, Miranda Mobley,
Milinda (Renee) Mobley, Octavia Thomas (Punkin), Alfred Thomas, Jr., Kenneth Thomas (Meka), Rhodda
Cameron, Ursula Bell, Walethig Walton; 30 great grandchildren, a very special niece Carol Hadley of
Camilla, GA and a special cousin, Louise Yoeman of Tampa; three goddaughters, Cherry, Evelyn Golden
and Imani Brown; devoted friend, Janis Harden; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing relatives and friends.
A native of Camilla, Georgia Mr. Putts was born on July 4, 1927 to the parentage of the late Abraham
Puttman and Francis Mae Jones. He was raised as a little boy by the late C. B. Burns and Catherine
Burns. Mr. Ulysses Putts, Sr. was united in holy matrimony to the late Dorothy Mae (Grissom) Putts.
They were married for sixty one years. Mr. Putts was a resident of the Sulphur Springs Community for
He was a faithful member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served on the #1 Usher Board until his health failed. Mr. Putts worked for many years with Jack Holmes Nursery
driving trucks and planting trees until he retired in 1978.
His remains will repose on Friday, May 18, 2013 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL.
