U.S. Veteran The Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Joseph Bernard Green, Jr. of Tampa, FL, who passed away Friday, September 16, 2011, will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Service to be held at the First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8616 Progress Blvd., Tampa, FL, 33619 under the leadership of Dr. Sam Maxwell, Sr., Superintendent A. P. Conage, Eulogist. The repast will be immediately after services at St. James A.M.E. Church, 5202 86th Street, S., Tampa, Florida 33619. Interment will be Monday, September 26, 2011 in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie Frances and J.B. Green; brothers, Ted Jerome and Charlie Hardy.

He leaves to cherish memories of him: his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, First Lady Cheryl Rae Green; daughters, Mattie Jenkins (Michael) of Seffner, FL, Shereeka Green of Tampa, FL and Crystal Green and fiancé, Tyron of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Aaron, Lashay, Makayla and Maya; three sisters, Betty Smith of Tampa, FL; Elizabeth Williams of Ithaca, NY and Charlotte Sawyer (Ira) of Rochester, NY; nieces and nephews, George Darnell, Jr., Velma Bell, Kenneth Darnell (Faye), Linda Fair (Daryll), Arthur Williams (Leslie); Sherrie Porter (Joseph); Sheila Brown, Lisa Sawyer-Davis, Charlotte Moore (Richard), Ira Sawyer, Jr., Elizabeth Hamelberg (Donald) and Adam Sawyer; Spiritual Parents, Bishop Matthew Williams, II; Superintendent A. P. Conage, Pastor Isaac and Evangelist Joyce Whitehurst and Mother Catherine Stevens. Other relatives and friends include The Rainbow Ministries Church family and a host of in-laws, great nieces, great nephews, godchildren, cousins and friends.

Pastor Green was a long time resident of Progress Village in Tampa, FL. He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Army. He retired from Yuengling Brewing Company and he was the founder and served as the full-time pastor of Rainbow Ministries Church, Inc.

There will be no public viewing.

There will be a memorial service at 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Rainbow Ministries, 1405 Park Street, Seffner, FL 33584.
