Funeral service for Sister Eloise “Madea” Thomas who passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at her residence will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 3708 E. Lake Avenue, with the pastor Reverend W. D. Sims, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Tampa, FL.
Sister Eloise Thomas was born December 22, 1933 in Thomasville, GA to the late J. T. Thomas and Daisy Mae Jackson. Sister Thomas was fondly known by several names;”Weezy”, “Weez, “Little Bit”, and most affectionately “Madea”.
The love, care, support and enjoyment she gave to her family and many others that crossed her path earned “Madea” much respect placing her a step above mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, and friend. Most of all she was a Christian woman and was united with St. Matthew M. B. Church under the leadership of Reverend W. D. Sims.
Sister Thomas worked for many years and retired as a seafood worker at various locations in the Tampa Bay area including, Tampa Maid, Singleton and Variety Seafood Services. She was also a long-time caregiver.
She was preceded in dead by her mother, Daisy Mae Jackson; father; J. T. Thomas; daughters, Ruby Lee Thomas and Latonya Michelle Blackmon; and son-in-law, David L. Irvin.
Sister Thomas leaves to cherish precious memories of her; 6 children; Kathy Elaine Irvin, Lavada Broxton, husband Oris; Roosevelt Harvin wife, Dorothy, Stevie Harvin (Jackie), Tony Harvin, wife Doris, and James Harvin, wife, Annie; 16 grandchildren, Lester Jones, III, Laquita D. Proctor, Christine Irvin, Christopher Irvin, David L. Irvin, Jr. Lakeyster M. Jones, Eloise Harvin, Eric Harvin, Kenneth Harvin, Kashunda Harvin, Tavona Willis, Juquada Willis, James Harvin, Christopher A. Phillips, Trenika M. Harris and Darien J. Blackmon; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Inez Thomas; 4 brothers, Willie T. (Leona) Thomas, J. T. (Lessie Mae) Thomas, Walter lee ( Florence) Thomas, and James Lee (Lillie Mae) Thomas; nieces and nephews; like a daughter, Rita Thomas and Gloria A. Thomas’; friends, Jeffrey and Theosice Arnold, Jimmy Willis, Mae Bell. Shelia Cobb, James on 30th Street; and the whole Tampa Maid, Singleton, and Variety Services.
Her remains will repose on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL.
