Carl E. Owens, Sr.

Mr. Carl Earl Owens, Sr. went home peacefully to be with the Lord on June 28, 2012.

A Homegoing service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel A.M.E Church, 5001 Cumberland Drive Tampa, FL 33617 with the Pastor, Reverend Beverly H. Lane, officiating.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Reverend Robert B. Owens and Mamie Ruth Owens (Mann) on August 14, 1952. He resided in the Tampa Bay Area for over fifty years. He found much pleasure in playing golf, riding motorcycle (Harley's), and singing karaoke. Carl Owens attended public schools in Hillsborough County. He then attended and completed requirements to graduate from U.S. Job Corp. Mr. Owens was employed by and later retired from AT&T (Lucent Technologies).

He was a loving son, father, and brother who was preceded in death by: his father, Reverend Robert B. Owens; He leaves to cherish memories of him; two sons, Carl E. Owens, Jr. and Byron Owens; one daughter, Ashley Owens; two granddaughters, Janae Owens and Zaire Williams; two grandsons, Byron Owens, Jr. and LaTauri Wanser; mother, Mamie R. Owens; sisters and brothers, Robbie (Owens) Grier of Atlanta, GA, Joan N. (Owens) Bates, Robert A. Owens, Carol E. Owens (twin), Yolanda P. (Owens) Brown, Mark E. Owens; along with a host of nieces nephews, cousins, family and friends in Florida and Georgia. Special friends, Norman Morton of Atlanta, GA; Joe Mitchell, Marcelino Millian (Sylvia), Jose Rodriguez (Ivy), Clifford Brown, Sr., and Denis Griffin of Zephyrhills, FL.

His remains will repose from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL 33605.
